My work explores nothing as something, something as nothing, as well as the first law of thermodynamics.
By doing so I wish to open a dialogue about the idea of meaninglessness having meaning
and fulfillment within emptiness.

Working Artist Statement as of Fall 2011
Absurdism is the belief that human beings exist in a purposeless, chaotic universe. “The Absurd,” in philosophy, refers to the discrepancy between the human tendency to seek inherent meaning to life and the human inability to find any. In this context, “absurd” does not mean “logically impossible” but rather “humanly impossible.” Another concept, nihilism, takes this idea even further and states that life is meaningless, completely rejecting the notion that there could ever be a logical possibility that could show otherwise.
